Round table on family violence

okruglistol0610On 6 October 2015 in Sisak, Civil Rights Project Sisak participated at the Roundtable discussion dedicated to the problem of domestic violence and violence against women. The Roundtable was organized within the project “Together we can do more”, which has been implemented by the Women’s Room, Association Brod, Croatian Association of Social Workers and Association of Judges for Youth, Family Judges and Experts for Children and Youth.

Center for Women Adela Sisak presented the analysis of the situation of social services in the Sisak-Moslavina County and the problems encountered in practice related to the reporting of violence. Representatives of the Centre for Social Welfare Sisak presented the role of the center in combating domestic violence and violence against women in the community. The above mentioned conduct education services in secondary schools and prisons in the Sisak-Moslavina County for the purpose of preventing violence.

At the Roundtable, the penal aspect of the protection of children was also presented. Davorka Lukač Lalić, representative of the Association of Judges for Youth, Family Judges and Experts for Children and Youth, stressed the importance of the role of experts outside of legal practice throughout the court proceedings.

The conclusion of the Roundtable was that an intersectoral cooperation in the fight against violence was necessary and that it was still necessary to raise awareness about the prevention and the rights of victims of violence.
