On the 7th of September, 2015, Civil Rights Project Sisak took part in the opening ceremony of the construction of the Home for the Elderly and Disabled in the town of Glina. The home is to be constructed within the Regional Housing Care Program.
The main goal of the construction of the Home is to take care of persons who have the status of refugees, returnees and IDPs and are currently accommodated in collective centers. The beneficiaries of the home will mainly be elderly persons without the necessary care and with health issues. The selection of the beneficiaries shall be conducted by the State Office for Reconstruction and Housing Care and UNHCR.
Mirela Stanić Popović, Head of the State Office for Reconstruction and Housing Care, opened the ceremony of the construction of the Home for the Elderly and Disabled. Milanka Opačić, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Social Policy and Youth, Ivo Žinić, Prefect of the Sisak-Moslavina County, Milan Bakšić, Mayor of the town of Glina, representatives of the European Commission, Development Bank of the Council of Europe and other invitees were present at the opening ceremony.
The anticipated deadline for the completion of the Home is October 2016.
