On the 5th of June 2014 the Civil Rights Project Sisak organized an educational workshop on the Program of Rural Development 2014-2020, within the project „Europe in my farm“, financed by the EU through IPA INFO 2012 programme. Marin Fak, senior expert adviser in the Directorate for Managing EU Funds for Rural Development, EU and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture, held a presentation, in front of more than 50 participants, about the measures of financing agriculture and rural development. The workshop is a result of cooperation between CRP Sisak and Ministry of Agriculture that co-financed the project with 5%.
In the presentation, as one of the biggest problems, Marin Fak emphasised an unsolved problem of ownership over the land in Croatia, because the farmer, who is not owner of the land on which he wants to start the production, and also does not have lease agreement with the owner, will not be allowed to apply for the financing.
Although, in urban places, internet is considered to be one of the main ways of communication, in rural areas of the Sisak-Moslavina County there is no such way of communication. One of the participants, who comes from the village of Klinac, near Petrinja, pointed out the problem by saying that there was no internet in the area. He suggested printing a brochure in which people would find everything that was necessary to know about measures for rural development.
At the end, Marin Fak informed the present that these measures that were presented were not jet approved by the European Commission, but the possible changes should not affect them drastically.
